Mitchell, Week 12, Santarém

Hello Sun!

The last couple of weeks we've had tons of sun! But I am doing swell!! Getting a tan that's for sure. But this past Sunday was the end of our transfers. I am staying here in Tapajos, Santarem but my trainer Elder Neres is flying out, and that's all we know. We don't know when or where. But I have no clue who is my next companion or so forth.

But I am am slowly understanding. There is a sister in our ward that served in the Temple Square mission. She has kept up here English. But yesterday was testimony meeting during sacrament meeting. I bore my testimony and after she said my Portuguese is improving. Which I was surprised.... I wish I could talk more and express my thoughts and act more like myself but I know it will with time. I cant also believe I have been in the field for 6 week!! Canto Vaca (holy cow) time flies!! (I explained the saying people say in the states... holy cow, to my companion E. Neres and he laughed so hard....) But I am grateful for him! He kinda reminds me of my dad. A convert to the church for 5 years before he served a mission. Has 2 other brothers and just has a really strong testimony and knows so much! But Elisma and Glausia are doing great! Their family went to church this Sunday and they loved it! (2nd picture... of them walking to church) We have to wait till the paperwork of their marriage to baptize Glausia. But she I am so excited! Also we have another family that is is a reference that is doing well too! Pablo (my 1st baptism) is doping swell! His brother is also a recent member. We are teaching his sister. But all 3 live with their grandma, she is 98 years old! But she is so fun to talk to. (1st picture - of the family, except Vanessa)

I am so excited to meet my new companion!! Something I said in my testimony yesterday during sacrament meeting was that I know this church is true no matter where you live. It is the same chruch, the church of Jesus Christ! I know he loves us and is our Savior! I am greatful for all of yall and I hope your doing wonderful!

With lots of Love from the Amazon,

Mitchell, Week 11, Santarém

The Amazon is like Hawaii!

All is good on the amazon! Today I am writing my emails late because today 6 elders (including myself) went to a beach looking part of Santarem. It took like 1 hour and 30 min by bus. But I loved it! Its called Alter Do Chao. BEAUTIFUL! This week was not the best but we have 2 familys that are doing great!! One family has 4 kids (youngest to oldest - Pablo, Isabel, Yasmin, and Leandria) the dad is inactive and the family went to the 2nd session of general conference and they loved it!! Especially the mother (Glaucia) loved it the whole time she was listening and having her head forward!

Here in Brazil they go by brother and sister but after its the first name. for example (sister Glaucia) But the heat is killing me! we are hitting summer down here and its around 38 Cel. and raining rarely.  Luckily it just rains at night! But I am loving it! Language is coming, slowly understanding more and speaking better I feel! I know I have Improved. Loved General Conference from what I understood... hahah! I listened to it in Portuguese. which was fun but I will print out the sessions  and read them during the week. But I loved it! A little different listening in a different language and still see there mouth move. But I loved it and definitely felt the spirit. The candy here is weird! What they eat as candy for the USA its cough drops. this is about it for this week. The church is true where ever you are!
Btw, I plan to have a English class when I can speak Portuguese better. A lot of members want to learn and that can also be a missionary moment for non-members. But I will do this when I can speak better. (2-3 months) Love ya so much!!

Love ya with all my heart!!
